Line-drawing-line-drawing

Last night was a smaller group for Drawing Night. James, Jen, Freddy, Yana, Milena, Neil and Tyson showed up with pens and pencils ready to eat, drink and make magic! This game is pretty fun. here's how it works: The first person to start off the game writes a short sentence. It is then passed on to the next person who draws a picture based on that sentence. Then the page is folded so that the text is hidden and only the picture is visible and passed to the next person who now writes another sentence based on the drawing. The page is folded once again so that only the new text is visible and then passed on to the next person who will draw another picture based on the new sentence. It works best with a larger group of people, so the same person does not work on the same page twice. When you run out of space on the page, unfold it and see how it turned out. It kinda works like that game "Broken Telephone".
The best thing about drawing nights is we usually get together for dinner first. Jen made some kick ass pasta.

And we take video game breaks from time to time. (Bubble Bobble was the game of choice tonight).

We also squeezed in some more 3 panel drawings to wrap things up.

Scan-man

Wow. I didn't really realize what I was getting into when I volunteered to start this little blog. We have a mother-load of stockpiled drawings! So, I suppose the first month or so will have quite a few posts, as I'll put them up as I scan them. Enjoy.

3 Panel Madness!

Yeah, we have a lot of these. This is only a fraction of 3 panel drawings we've done. When we first started doing Drawing Night, we mainly stuck to this exercise. It's always so much fun when each piece is finally revealed to the group, to see how it all comes together.

Penis Cheek

Well, this all started out with a group of us who worked together killing time on our way to the job. In the summer of 2005, we all used to do landscaping and the hour and a half drive up north got a little boring. We began to waste time by drawing a series of 3 panel drawings, where one person would draw a head of a character, the next the torso, then someone else would draw the legs and so on. The best thing about it was the only section of the piece that you saw was the part you were working on, so when the drawing was complete, we unveiled the finished work usually resulting in hilarity and magic. We ended up with quite a collection of drawings most of which ended up in a little zine we put together called "Penis Cheek" (Pictured above). We've now rounded up more friends and try to get together weekly with different drawing games to try out. So, I guess this blog is a way of cataloging the stuff we pump out. Not all of it is gold but that's what makes the good pieces all the better.
Contributing artists for Penis Cheek: James Kerr, Tyson Bodnarchuk, Marc Simard, Kev Simard and Neil Doshi.
Look for upcoming Drawing Night posts which will include works by the above and Jen Storey, Angie Johnson, Fred Casia, Yana Gorbulsky, Aaron McConomy and more.

If you're wondering whats going on in the middle of the one above, well, it's a tank. Thank Kevin Simard for that. Tanks are his specialty.
